What is a Cheesemonger?  A Cheesemonger is the "sommelier of cheese". They are expertly versed in cheese groups and characteristics. 


Our cheesemonger should have a passion for cheese and share their passion and knowledge with guests as well as coworkers.  They will be a part of our Nashville or Memphis cheese team in the areas of education and customer service.  Our cheesemonger will work closely with our Head Cheesemonger and other cheesemongers in the store.  They will prepare, package, receive and stock products.  


Job Description

  • Assist customers with cheese selections while sharing knowledge of a particular cheese.

  • Cut to order cheeses for customers weighing, labeling and packaging products as well as assist in checking out customers on our POS system.

  • Ensures cheese counters (and cheese fridges) are merchandised accurately and neatly as well as properly labeled and priced.  Rotates products per quality and FIFO inventory management (First In - First Out)

  • Works closely with Head Cheesemonger to ensure proper in-stock levels are maintained of cheeses.

  • Prepares pre-ordered cheeseboard orders and works with kitchen staff putting together event or table experiences. 

  • Assists kitchen staff in preparing cheese and charcuterie planches (boards)

  • Serves dine-in customers explaining cheeses and/or charcuterie on their planches (plates)

  • Assists with weekly cheese educational workshops.  

  • Serves cheese at local events, tastings and private events.

  • Follow safety and sanitation guidelines maintaining a clean and sanitized workstation.


General Requirements

  • Passion for cheese and desire to continue to learn more about our products.

  • One year of cheese experience is preferred but not required.

  • Basic knife skills, experience operating a slicer a plus

  • Must be of legal age under TN state regulations to serve alcohol (18 years) and have a valid TN ABC certificate. 


  • Compensation: hourly, based on experience (plus tips)

  • Paid vacation, sick days and health insurance, close major holidays plus closed for winter break between Christmas and New Years
